Welcome to Life Magnetics
Life Magnetics, a spin-out from the University of Michigan, is developing a proprietary microbiology platform for rapid and ultra-sensitive detection of microbes. The proprietary technology, referred to as Asynchronous Magnetic Bead Rotation (AMBR™), was developed by the company founder, Dr. Brandon McNaughton, and others at the University of Michigan.
Current methods for the identification and susceptibility testing of pathogens, such as culture and nucleic acid testing, provide an undesirable tradeoff between determining the resistance of a pathogen and the time required to obtain such a result. The Life Magnetics system, once commercially available, will overcome the limitations of current methods, providing a rapid system that will both identify bacterial strains and determine their susceptibility to antimicrobials from raw specimen.
Core Technology: Asynchronous Magnetic Bead Rotation
